The Tointon Gallery for the Visual Arts

The Tointon Gallery presents twelve changing shows each year to provide enjoyment, to help educate and to encourage dialogue with and about art. We strive to expose the community to a variety of media, artist styles, and skill levels. Our spacious 1,000 square foot art gallery features work by local and nationally acclaimed artists. We promote deeper understanding and open dialogue with informative exhibits and ‘meet the artists’ receptions.
Combine your gallery visit, located in Greeley’s Union Colony Civic Center, with a theatre performance for a full evening.

“The Coonts Collective – Three Generations of Art”
“The Coonts Collective – Three Generations of Art” includes artists Bob Coonts, his son Brent and Brent’s two daughters 11 year old Shayla and 13 year old Sierra, at the Tointon Gallery August 27 – October 3. On September 10 from 5 – 7 pm the family will be available to discuss their work during an artist reception. Bob Coonts will also be available to sign his book “Inside Out: The Art of Bob Coonts.”
Sisters Shayla and Sierra, their father Brent and grandfather Bob have displayed their art together before this exhibit; they were part of a number of art shows at the Centennial Gallery in Fort Collins and the “Artful Dreams” exhibit at Silver Heron Art Gallery in Depoe Bay, Oregon.
Bob Coonts, a Colorado native and long-time Fort Collins resident, paints in a Western Heritage style that uniquely his own. He strives for an image that is unusual and that brings pleasure in the doing as well as in the viewing. His work is often stylized, often whimsical, always colorful and strong in design and composition. Animals, landscapes, people, history and mythology provide him a wealth of subject matter. He also produces images that are purely abstract or non-objective in nature.
Brent Coonts is not only the son of Bob and the father of Shayla & Sierrra, he is a bio-chemist. He says however, that his own use of bright dynamic colors comes directly from his talented father.
Shayla and Sierra were young when their artistic appreciations began. With the guidance of their grandpa and parents they grew into talented artists. Their style is influenced by father and grandfather but time continues to draw out their true selves.
