State Farm Supports Local Academics

State Farm Insurance Companies presented a $100,000 check to the University of Northern Colorado to aid in student success across campus.  The gift will provide academic scholarships including some for bilingual students, resources for campus cultural centers, support for a Monfort College of Buisness faculty fellowship, and funding for web-based financial aid tools.  State Farm has donated more than $1 million to UNC over the last 13 years.

 

Local Business Takes First Place

Greeley Monument Works received 1st Place in the category of Public and Civic Monuments in the American Institute of Commemorative Art's 2010 Design contest.  They earned the award for the Poudre River Trail markers they designed and built.

 

Center Director Receives President's Award

Life Care Center of Greeley executive director Dan Gauger has received the Life Care Centers of America Mountain States Division President's Award for his distinguished servcie in long-term health care management.

 

Local Brewery Brings Home Awards

Northern Colorado brewers brought back awards from the Great American Beer Festival in Denver including Greeley's own Crabtree Brewery.  The festival is the largest commercial beer competition in the world, with 3,930 beers vying for medals from 167 beer judges from nine countries.  Competing against 13 other entries in the German Style Ale category, Crab Tree Brewing won gold with their Berliner Weisse, and competing against 36 entries they won silver with their Oatmeal Stout.

 

Weld Women Honored as Women of Distinction

The 2011 Northern Colorado Business Report Women of Distinction is the premier Northern Colorado celebration recognizing female leadership in Northern Colorado.  Whether business professionals or community leaders, philanthropists or educators, these women choose to devote their time and considerable talents in ways that strengthen not only their organization's interests but the entire community.  Eleven women were honored including Greeley's Jean Shober Morrell from the University of Northern Colorado, for Outstanding Mentor and Leona Martens from the Weld Food Bank, for Non-Profit Human Services.

 

Business Owners Flex Some Muscle and Win

Congratulations to Greeley business owners Kim McMurren and Rodney Garcia.  Both came away victors in the 2011 Colorado State Bodybuilding Championships.  Rodney was named the Men's Masters Overall Co-State Champion and Kim took first in the Women's Masters Division.  Kim and Rodney own Max Muscle in Greeley.

 

KUNC Recognized for Newscast Efforts

The Colorado Associated Press Broadcaster's Association recognized the KUNC newsroom with six awards in the large/medium market category.  Five staffers received top honors for Best Newscast.  Grace Hood received 1st place for Investigative Reporting and 2nd in the General Reporting category.  Grace and fellow reporter Kirk Siegler took first and second in Use of Sound and Kirk also took first place in the Best Feature category.  Grace received the national Edward R. Murrow Award for excellence in broadcast journalism for a second year in a row.

 

KFKA Brings Home Colorado Broadcasters Awards 

Greeley's 1310 KFKA radio brought home three awards in the major market division at the 2011 Colorado Broadcasters Association's annual awards.  Troy Coverdale and his news team received a certificate of merit for Best Single Event News Coverage.  Amy Oliver and Scoter McGee took first and second in Best News/Talk Personality.  KFKA is Colorado's first radio station, having signed on the air in 1921, and is celebrating 90 years of broadcasting in 2011.

2010

Roche Constructors Inc. of Greeley has received an Excellence in Construction Award from the Rocky Mountain Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors for their work on the Vestas Blades Colorado paint facilities in Windsor.

 

Thomas Gibson, a financial specialist with U.S. Bank in Greeley, has won the president's award with U.S. Bancorp Investments and Insurance, the parent company of U.S. Bank  Gibson was among a select number of top-performing employees nationwide.

 

 

Connecting Point of Greeley has been named among the top 40 Most Innovative Managed Service Providers in North America by Everything Channel's CRN Magazine.  The list recognizes the IT industry's top 40 managed service providers for their ingenuity, leadership and success.  Connecting Point was noted for introducing their PointCare suite of services to a wide variety of clients in Northern Colorado.

 

Country Creations of the Rockies in Greeley was recently named one of ColoradoBiz magazine's list of 50 Colorado companies to watch.

 

Congratulations to Brian Schiller, sales executive for Flood & Peterson Insurance by the Nationwide Agribusiness Insurance Company as one of the leading writers of farm insurance.

 

State Farm Insurance Living Heathy

State Farm Insurance has been recognized as a healthy workplace by the National Business Group on Health.  State Farm was among 66 employers that received the 2010 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award.  The award was given by the National Business Group on Health's Institute on Innovation in Workforce Well-being.

NCMC Bariatric Center Excellence Designation

North Colorado Medical Center has been renewed as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Surgical Review Corporation.

 

Woman of Influence

Chalice Springfield of Sears Real Estate in Greeley has been named a Northern Colorado Woman of Influence by the Northern Colorado Business Report for her commitment to the community.

 

Health Professions Award Given

Mitzi Moran, chief operating officer of Sunrise Community Health will receive the 2009 Health Professions Education and Training Award given by the National Association of Community Health Centers.  She was recognized for her role in developing sustainable education centers focusing on the training of family physicians.

 

NCMC Nurse Wins National Award

Ginger Maki, HeartCaring Coordinator at North Colorado Medical Center, whose case study "Collaboration and Promotion: Keys to Achieving HeartCaring Goals" won the Case Study of the Year at the national HeartCaring Conference.

 

National Renewable Energy Laboratory Selection

Congratulations to Bruce Biggi, Economic Development Manager for the City of Greeley.  Bruce is one of 33 community leaders selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory 2009 Executive Energy Leadership program.  It is the state's premier leadership program focused on educating business and government leaders about clean energy solutions that can boost the local economy.

 

Bonell Good Samaritan Receives Quality Award

Good Samaritan Society Bonell Community has received a Quality First Award with the endorsement of the Colorado Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.  The Greeley facility was recognized for its outpatient clinic program that partners with community medical providers.

 

Small Business Well Workplace Designation Given

The Weld Schools Credit Union has received the first Small Business Well Workplace designation in Weld County.  The recognition is given by the Wellness Council of America.

 

Colorado Broadcasters Awards Given to Local Radio Stations

Congratulations to local radio stations KUNC and KFKA who both received multiple awards at the Colorado Broadcasters Association Award of Excellence Gala.  KUNC also won two Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in electronic journalism from the Radio and Television News Directors Association for their coverage of the May 2008 tornado and efforts to register Latino voters prior to the November election.

 

Ehrich Toyota Wins President's Award...Again!

Ehrlich Toyota has won Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc's President's Award for outstanding sales and service for the third time.  The award recognizes dealerships across the U.S. that achieve high standards of performance from vehicle and parts to customer service.

 

Kudos to State Farm and Aims Community College

State Farm has donated $20,000 to help fund The College Promise program at Aims Community College.  The College Promise program was started in 2008 by local business leaders to financially support students who choose to attend Aims.  The number of students who benefit from College Promise depends on funds raised annually as it is not an endowed fund.

 

Well Workplace Designation Given the State Farm

State Farm Insurance in Greeley has earned a Silver Well Workplace designation from the Wellness Councils of America.  Others to receive the honor include NCMC, New Frontier Bank and the city of Greeley.

 

Local Hotel Earns Award for Quality

For two years running, Days Inn in Greeley has won the Chairman's Award for Quality and has been ranked No. 1 of the 1,850 Days Inns worldwide.  The award recognizes hotels that consistently meet and exceed quality assurance standards.

 

Greeley Hat Works Featured in Magazine

Greeley Hat Works has been featured in American Cowboy Magazine as an industry leader.  The company is approaching its 100th anniversary.  In that time they have built hats for two U.S. Presidents, representatives for the U.S. State Department, nationally known entertainers, Fortune 500 CEOs and some darn fine cowboys.

Hensel Phelps & New Frontier Bank Rank With the Best

Greeley-based Hensel-Phelps Construction has been ranked 3rd overall in the list of Top 250 private companies in Colorado by ColoradoBiz Magazine (September 2008 edition).  In addition, ColoradoBiz has named New Frontier Bank the top Colorado company in the finance division for the second year in a row.

 

Ehrlich Receives Toyota President's Award

Scott Ehrlich has received the Toyota President's Award for the second consecutive year.  Scott has received recognition for his key role in establishing the College Promise Program which provides financial assistance to local students so they can continue their education beyond high school.  Scott was recognized in the September 1 edition of Time Magazine.

 

Greeley's Management Program Awarded Governor's Award

The Colorado Community Revitalization Association has recognized Greeley as an exceptional downtown management program by awarding them the 2008 Governor's Award for Downtown Excellence.  The annual award program recognizes the progress being made in revitalizing Colorado's historic downtown and neighborhood business districts and the contributions these districts are making to Colorado's quality of life and economy.  An award ceremony was held at the CCRA's annual conference on September 18.

 

UNC/Texas Roadhouse Announces Scholarship Winner

Betony Coons was awarded the UNC/Texas Raodhouse Scholarship.  The scholarship contest is available for Visual Art students of UNC and involves the paiting of a mural that shows something about the community.  This year's theme was Greeley: Great. From the Ground Up.  Betony received a $1,000 scholarship.  Her mural is located on the outside west wall of the Texas Roadhouse.

New Frontier Bank Finalist For Being Best Company

New Frontier Bank was ranked 4th out of 20 finalist for the ColoardoBiz "2007 Best Companies to Work For in Colorado" small to medium sized companies rankings.

Better Schools Better Community Banquet Awards Given
The Greeley Chamber of Commerce held its annual “Better Schools Better Community” banquet on April 25, 2007. The Greeley Chamber of Commerce established the Better Schools Better Community program seven years ago to provide direct support to schools and teachers. Seventeen teachers were nominated for the award. Noel Johnston, who teaches English, literature and drama at Greeley Central High School, was named “Teacher of the Year." Runners-up were Cindy Compton from Trademark High School and Mary Lacefield from Meeker Elementary School. Additional awards included: Alan Miller, public affairs assistant manager for State Farm Insurance, was named “Education Volunteer of the Year"; The Ehrlich Family of Dealerships was named “Business Partner of the Year” for its work with Colorado High School; and Erica Cardenas, from Greeley West High School, was awarded the Ann K. Heiman Scholarship, given to a high school senior whose goal is to become a teacher. During the 2006-2007 school year, 37 public and private schools partnered with 43 local businesses, service clubs and public agencies through the Better Schools Better Community program.

Coveted Magnet Designation Given to NCMC
North Colorado Medical Center has earned the "Magnet" designation, joining fewer than 250 hospitals nationwide recognized for superior nursing care. The American Nurses' Credentialing Center awards the status after evaluating a hospital based on patient outcomes, nurse job satisfaction and turnover rate.
 


1310 KFKA Radio Considered One of the Best
One of Greeley’s local radio stations,1310 KFKA Newstalk walked away with two first place awards from the Colorado Broadcasters Association. First place awards were given for Best Website in a Major Market and Best Newstalk personality in Major Market- Luke Shilts.
 


Greeley Tribune Receives Press Association Awards
Greeley Tribune received 14 awards, including five first-place honors, from the Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters Association for newspapers with a circulation between 10,000 and 100,000. Also, for the 2nd straight year, the Tribune won enough awards at the Colorado Press Association’s annual awards banquet to take home the “sweepstakes award for general excellence” and the sweepstakes awards in advertising, editorial and photography and design. La Tribuna won nine awards.

ColoradoBIZ Ranks State's Top 250 Private Companies
ColoradoBIZ magazine presented its ranking of the state's Top 250 Private Companies. The 2006 listing included: Swift & Co. (1); Hensel Phelps Construction Co. (6); Roche Constructors Inc. (20); Agland Inc. (24) and New Frontier Bank (52).
