What is ARPA?
The American Rescue Plan Act is a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus package. The program's goal is to speed up the nation's recovery from the economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This bill became law on March 11, 2021.
How Can the Funds be Used?
Eligible use of funds focuses on state, local, and tribal governments. These entities can use funds on their response to and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. The four eligible categories are: Revenue Loss; Infrastructure Support; Premium Pay; and Public Health.
Where Will the Funds Go?
There are four areas of focus the city will invest in: Building Community Resiliency; Enhancing Mobility; Creating Community, Quality of Life and Destinations; Activating Economic Corridors.
How Much Did the City Receive?
The federal government allocated the City of Greeley a total of $21 million. To date the city has spent a total of $2.2 million under the Revenue Loss category. What is the ARPA Funding Timeline?
The city needs to decide how to spend the funds by Dec. 31, 2024. Applications were scored by committees and recommended to Council as part of the annual budget process. The City Council reviewed recommended awards in October 2023 and sub-grant awardees were notified. Funding began in January 2024.
