| The City of Greeley Transportation
Services maintains and manages approximately 24,000 signs and 900 different types of signs
within the City of Greeley. We evaluate requests for new signs as needed
using the guidelines set forth by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control
Devices. The factors taken under consideration during evaluation of a
new sign include: Design; Placement; Operation; Maintenance; Uniformity.
Signs should be used only where warranted by facts and field
studies and are most effective when they satisfy five basic
fundamentals:
- Fulfill a need
- Command Attention
- Convey a clear and simple meaning
- Command respect of the road user
- Give adequate time for the proper response
