| The City of Greeley Transportation Services maintains
and manages approximately 100 traffic signals and 60 school flashers
within the City of Greeley. Maintaining the system takes more than
simply turning the lights from red, yellow, and green. We must balance
the needs of all who depend and use the traffic signal system. This
includes motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders, along
with emergency vehicles. Did You Know ?
- Driving the speed limit is the most effective way to reduce time spent at traffic lights. The signals are programmed to work best when the speed limit is met.
- Stop behind the stop bar at red lights. Most intersections in Greeley have vehicle detectors in the pavement that detect the vehicle's presence.
- When walking do not enter the pedestrian crosswalk when the 'Walk' light is flashing
- Yellow means 'slow' down - not 'speed' up
- Treat a flashing red light as a stop sign.
- Pedestrians 'SHOULD' have the right-of-way.
