Subject:  Drop-off Recycling Coming to Greeley

Greeley residents eager to recycle will soon have a full-service site at which to drop off everything from glass, plastic, paperboard, cardboard, cans, and a wide variety of paper products including junk mail, phone books and office paper.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, through the Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity Grant Program has awarded National Recycling Inc. of Lucerne, CO $244,641 to build a recycling drop-off center for the city of Greeley patterned after the successful model in Fort Collins, CO which handles over 1500 tons of waste material that is collected and diverted from landfills annually.

The Greeley site layout will be designed to provide visitors with a convenient, fast and comfortable recycling experience.  The large bins are emptied weekly and the company prides itself on maintaining clean and secure facilities.  At present, National Recycling is working with the City of Greeley to identify a site for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin this summer with an opening targeted for January 2009.

National Recycling started as Colorado Office Recyclers in 1996 to create business recycling options in Northern Colorado. After initial success recycling paper, aluminum, cardboard, glass and plastics for small business, the company expanded its services by purchasing Security Document Destruction from Colorado Iron and Metal in 1998. National Recycling now operates a full service commercial recycling/shredding company for all size businesses, in addition to its public recycling drop off sites.
More information about National Recycling can be found on its website at www.nat-recycling.com.  An announcement will be made soon about the location of the new recycling drop off center.  For more information about the program in general, call either Jamie Gormley of National Recycling at 353-2571 or Becky Safarik, Community Development Director at 350-9785.
