Subject: Traffic Delays at the Intersection of 8th Avenue and 16th Street
A road improvement project is scheduled to begin at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 16th Street beginning the week of September 23rd. The project consists of installing new curb bulb-outs, cross walks, handicap access ramps and lighting. This project is being undertaken to improve the functionality, safety and appeal of the 8th Avenue travel corridor. This is the first phase of a multi-year project which will connect the University and Downtown districts.
Pending weather delays, this project is expected to be completed this year. During construction, partial and full lane closures will be necessary at this intersection with detour routes plainly marked. Both vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be affected, and motorists are asked to drive cautiously in this and all construction zones.
