Volunteers Welcome!
There are lots of volunteer opportunities at the Museums. |
| Do you like history and historic objects? Working with children and adults? Have some spare time? Want to meet new people and get involved in the community? Then consider volunteering at the Greeley Museums. VOLUNTEERS: Download the volunteer application. Just complete the form and mail to the Museums at 714 8th St., Greeley, CO 80631.
Volunteers of all ages and with all interests are welcome at the Museums. Volunteers work at all four museum sites: Centennial Village, the Meeker Home, Greeley History Museum and Plumb Farm Learning Center. You can also join the Friends of the Greeley Museums and enjoy great perks in addition to volunteering opportunities.
The Museums are fortunate to have many enthusiastic JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS, ages 14-21, who assist with summer camps, museum collection care and cataloging, exhibits work, programs and other special events during the year. Young people who are home-schooled and available to assist with living history festivals on weekdays are always welcome.
Some volunteer opportunities are ongoing: research; museum store sales; general clerical assistance and mailings; painters,"fix-it people," landscape helpers; flyers and poster distributors; musicians and dancers for special programs and festivals; cookie bakers. And here's a month-by-month calendar of needs.

| We need people who can demonstrate trades and occupations like blacksmithing, printing, horseshoeing; domestic chores like old-fashioned laundry, woodstove cooking and baking, butter making; arts like spinning, weaving, embroidery, lace-making; and other chores common to a century ago like ropemaking, corn shelling and grinding, etc. New living history demonstrators or "apprentices" are always needed. We can use musicians, storytellers, and dancers for several festivals presented annually.
Being a tour guide or docent involves several hours of training by staff members. And tour guides need to have enough stamina to lead a group of 15 people on an hour and a half tour. But the rewards are great. |
