Research Assistance

The Hazel E. Johnson Research Center, located at the Greeley History Museum provides assistance with your research.  We provide assisted research, genealogy resources and more. Our 2008 hours are 9 am-4:30 pm Tuesday through Friday. The Center is closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Expert assistance for researchers

Museum Collections and Administrative Records
These include records of gifts, donations, and artifacts; a subject catalogue of artifacts owned by the City of Greeley Museums; inventory and appraisal records; museum scrapbooks, bound volumes of monthly reports, annual reports, minutes of the Museum Advisory board from 1959 to present; and working files with information pertaining to administration and budget, collections and facilities, and research and education (programs, exhibits, etc.).  Click here to learn more about donating items to the City of Greeley Museums.
Historical Reference Collection
  • Surname reference/Obituary files, and Indexed Obituary Scrapbooks
  • Greeley and Weld County Directories; City of Greeley scrapbooks, ordinances, directories.
  • Record books and minutes of the Union Colony; historical books, theses, autobiographies, etc., pertaining to the Greeley and northeastern Colorado region.
  • The Colorado Collection: 2,200 books, pamphlets, etc. pertaining to the history of the state and its people.
  • Weld County Tombstone Inscriptions; copies of Linn Grove Cemetery records.

Historical photo collection Greeley, Weld County, Colorado
Our existing collections of photographic resources originate primarily from private donations, and photocopies are available for a nominal copying fee. Reprints of photographs are available through City of Greeley Museums, with a signed Historic Photograph-Reproduction Policy. Fees for photographic reprints vary, so please do contact us to find out the charges for your research request if you cannot visit us in person.
