Centennial Village - Hall House

1885
This building is a regional example of the Italianate style of architecture popular in the United States from 1860 to 1890. A local contractor and builder, Robert Hall, constructed the house for $2,500 at 1009 7th Street.

A house built in the Italianate style often resembled a two-story block or cube elevated on a substantial foundation. The low pitched hip roof, heavy projecting cornices supported by paired brackets beneath the eaves, pairs of elongated windows with heavy moldings, round-headed windows, and octagonal or square bay windows are other stylistic elements. The 1880s was a prosperous time in Greeley, permitting many professionals, merchants, and cattlemen to erect such prominent homes.

The first floor of the house is used for meetings, luncheons and small receptions, while the upstairs houses museum staff offices.
