Firefighter 2009 Salary: $43,958/year for EMT-B certified; $45,990/year for EMT-I; $48,036 for Paramedic.

Summary
Firefighters perform individually and/or as a member of a team and participate in activities in the following areas: combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires; responding to emergency medical and traffic accident calls and other related public assistance activities; performing routine custodial maintenance of fire department equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
Job Requirements
- Recruit candidates must be 21 years of age or older by March 14, 2008.
- Recruit candidates must have current Colorado or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT‑B) certification at the time of application and must maintain certification through date of hire, including all required refresher courses. Copies of appropriate Certification must be included in application. Applications that do not contain copies of current EMT-B (or more advanced) certifications will not be considered. This eligibility list is expected to be valid for two years.Must have valid driver's license with good driving record;High school diploma or GED
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions;
- Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing, using tact and diplomacy;
- Skill in recording information accurately;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
- Must not have been convicted of either a felony or any misdemeanor involving moral turpitude under the laws of the State of Colorado or any other jurisdiction.
POST JOB OFFER REQUIREMENTS
New Recruits:

Must reside within 36 road miles of the UCFRA boundary. Recruits will be given 12 months in which to comply with this requirement.

Must become certified as a Firefighter Level II by the State of Colorado within 12 months of hire and such certification must be kept current.

Are required to work either a 24-hour shift schedule or an 8 hour/day/40 yours per week work schedule at the determination of the Chief.
