2012 Festival of Trees
at the Union Colony Civic Center
November 23 - December 1

For many in Greeley, the holiday season is wrapped in tradition and begins the weekend after Thanksgiving.  Perfect timing for the recently held 26th annual Festival of Trees presented by the City of Greeley and the Greeley Philharmonic Guild.  Almost as magical as Santa himself, every year the Union Colony Civic Center’s lobbies are transformed into a winter wonderland of holiday splendor created around beautifully decorated trees and displays each with their own theme and style. And even though the festival committee believes EVERY tree is a winner, we congratulate People’s Choice winner, Lincoln Park Emporium, St. Nick’s Pick, Pope Farms and Garden Center, Mrs. C’s Favorite Tree, Agfinity, Inc. and Jackson Elementary School 1st Grade for winning the Kid’s Choice award.  The Teddy Bear Bash and the Whoville Holiday Seussabration, amazing silent auction items, choirs and musicians, The Silver Bells Social for Seniors, the first Sip & Shop ladies night out event, and of course, visits from the jolly old elf himself – all the blessings of the season packaged in this week long festival would not have happened if it weren’t for the time, skills, kindness and financial resources of hundreds of generous sponsors, donors, designers, performers and volunteers as well as the loyal support and dedication of the community it serves.  We look forward to celebrating our 27th anniversary in 2013 but in the meantime, on behalf of the 2012 Festival of Trees Steering Committee, may you have a joyous Holiday Season surrounded by friends and loved ones!

Even with Mrs. Claus and all those elves, the chubby guy himself couldn't create a better winter wonderland than Greeley's Festival of Trees. This annual week-long extravaganza of exquisitely decorated trees and wreaths began twenty six years ago as a labor of love by the City of Greeley and the Greeley Philharmonic Guild as the main fundraiser for the Union Colony Civic Center and the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra. It has become one of the most anticipated yuletide events not only for our community, but all of Northern Colorado.

Every year the Festival of Trees presents a forest of beautifully decorated trees, whimsical to elaborate, each with its own unique theme. At the end of the Festival, the coveted "People's Choice" award is presented to the business, individual or organization whose tree is voted overall favorite. No doubt thousands of people attending the festival discover the magnificent displays are only part of the fun. In addition to strolling through splendidly decorated lobbies, patrons enjoy heartwarming activities including visits with Santa & Mrs. Claus, face-painters, children's activities, horse & carriage rides, holiday demonstrations, door prize drawings, fire truck rides and joyous serenading by Christmas choirs and merry musicians. Watch for Holly & Noel, the talking Christmas Trees.

As well as elaborately decorated trees, the celebration also includes special events including Kream of the Krop Swing Band's Jingle Bell Jam, Guaranty Bank and Trust's Silver Bells Social, the Teddy Bear Bash, Holiday Sip & Shop and the Whoville Holiday Seussebration. Click on the 2012 Schedule of Events for a listing of Whoville activities taking place during the afternoon Seussebration on November 24th. Throughout the festival, patrons can bid on seasonal items including trees, wreaths, Santas, snowmen and year round items like JEWELRY in the silent auction!
