Pavement Maintenance Funding

The City is responsible for the maintenance and repair of over 360 miles of paved roadway within the city limits.  This year the City will spend approximately $2.74 million on pavement overlay and reconstruction projects focusing on 7 miles of major arterial roads.  Sealcoat, chip seal and patching will also occur at numerous location around the city at an additional cost of approximately $1.1 million.  The total pavement maintenance program for 2011 is $5.65 million.

Over the past several years, pavement conditions have been deteriorating due to funding limitations and the $1.26 costs of asphalt, labor, etc.

Pavement Repair Factoids

Here are some interesting facts:

  • The 2010 overlay and reconstruction projects focused on 2.04 miles of roadway.  This equals 99,130 square yards; of an estimated 9,000,000 total square yards for all Greeley streets.

  • The City adjusted 82 utilities (water valves and manholes), and roto-milled 73,261 square yards of pavement removing 8,190 tons of asphalt (475 truck loads) for recycling.

  • We installed 58,500 square yards of paving fabric and 15,400 tons of new asphalt.

  • Approximately $60,000.00 of new pavement markings were necessary.
