THIRD ENTRYWAY PROJECT: 16th Street from 8th Avenue to

resurfacing and curb improvements for this area.
Project Status: The Request for Qualifications for conceptual design services was issued; Three Statement of Qualifications for these professional services were received and the work was awarded to BHA Design. The project budget is currently at $325,000 based on available 2005 funding. A citizen's advisory committee was formed and joined members from the Entryway Committee and staff to consider options for improvements to this corridor. The final project design was presented at an Open House on January 5, 2006. The plans were presented to City Council on February 14, 2006 and were approved. Construction began in Summer 2006 and included streetscape improvements adjacent to Heath Middle School and Greeley Central High School with a detached sidewalk for pedestrian safety and comfort, faux brick columns and landscaping. Last items to be installed are a pair of entryway monuments at the intersection of 16th Street and 8th Avenue. The monuments will be similar in size and general design to those found on 11th Avenue between the University Square Shopping Center and the UNC campus, except they will be done with a brick and capstone material more similar to the entryway materials on the UNC campus. The monuments will include street identification. The project completed Fall 2007.

for project construction. The entryway is fully constructed and
lighted; landscaping is still to be done. The project was completed Fall 2007.

bond proceeds. Those projects include: South 8th Avenue median at
approximately 24th Street (estimated construction is Fall 2008); the

review with Council, late 2008).
Entryway and neighborhood improvements will involve
neighborhood input and evaluation of such items as:
- key gateways/interchanges
- landscaping/streetscaping
- elimination of visual distractions
- public art
